Situated
where the original Purple Hill Loyal Orange Lodge No. 817 was, the Taylor
Auction Hall in Thorndale offers local residents country atmosphere.
The auction hall, used for everything from auctions to weddings to bi-weekly
dances, replaces the old lodge that owner George Taylor’s father
donated to the Fanshawe Pioneer Village. Taylor's father, who was on
the board at the time the village was established, donated the original
hall that was built in 1880. “Because a lot of peopldanced in
that hall, we built this hall as an auction building then people started
asking about holding dances and weddings here.”
